ACS Lignotec is a modern ready to use multi purpose wood preservative and surface biocide. Lignotec is suitable for internal and exterior applications on a wide variety of surfaces. External applications in use classes 3 and 4 on surfaces not in direct contact with ground or water. The product is approved under UK COPR for amateur ( DIY ) , professional and industrial use. Based on modified vegetable oil and co-polymers which combined with low toxicity fungicides and insecticides gives a safe to use but highly effective treatment.

Uses

As a wood preservative Lignotec can be used to treat Woodworm and wood boring insects. Lignotec is designed as a preventative treatment and will stop the re-infestation of the beetles.  The unique formula is also designed to treat timber against wood decaying fungi, disfiguring fungi such a sapstain. Ideal uses are internal beams and exposed timber, sheds, fences, cladding , barge boards and general construction timbers. All timber new and old will benefit from treatment. Great as a pre-treatment for the ACS Woodbead timber water proofer.

As a surface biocide Lignotec can be used to control and eradicate mould and algae on stone, brick, render, timber and metal. Offers long term protection on masonry when used with ACS Masonry Water Repellent MWR400 or ACS Woodbead timber water proofer.

Mixing

Stir or shake well before use

 SURFACE PREPARATION (BARE TIMBER)

Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free of oil, grease and organic growth. Silvered timber should be lightly abraded prior to application

When using on masonry, brush the surface to remove and dust or debris and make good any cracks or defects.

SURFACE PREPARATION (PREVIOUSLY PAINTED TIMBER)

ACS Lignotec must be applied to an adsorbent surface. Therefore, all existing paint or varnish should be removed prior to application and the surface brushed to remove dust and dirt. Exhibit care when removing old paints as many were lead-based.

APPLICATION

Do not thin. When using as either a surface biocide (to control moulds and algae) or a wood preservative (to control wood decay fungi and wood boring insects) to the prepared surface, apply 2-3 coats by brush or short to medium pile roller, or, in the case of professional application, battery operated sprayer. When treating timber, spread evenly along the grain. The number of applications required will be determined by the wood type and/or porosity of the masonry.

SUBSEQUENT TREATMENTS

Once dry, ACS Lignotec can be over-coated with a suitable protective topcoat such as Hydrobar® Woodbead (for timber) or ACS Hydrobar® MWR 400 (for masonry). Most commercially available topcoats are also suitable but we recommend testing a small area first to ensure the topcoat is compatible.

CLEAN UP

Brushes and application equipment may be cleaned with warm, soapy water.

LIMITATIONS OF USE

Do not apply if there is a likelihood of rain, fog or frost before the coating has completely dried (up to 24-hours after application).

Do not apply to surfaces where food is prepared, stored or eaten.

STORAGE CONDITIONS

Store in warm, dry conditions, apart from food, drink and animal feedstuffs.
