  • ACS Tanking Slurry

Classic tanking slurry

A single-pack, cementitious waterproofing powder, containing re-dispersible polymers, shrinkage
compensators and fine aggregates, which is mixed with water to form paint-like slurry. Suitable for application
to most interior and exterior mineral substrates including brick and render to create a barrier to both negative
and positive hydrostatic pressure.

USES

Can be used for water retention or water exclusion purposes including lining water tanks and towers, reservoir
walls, canal walls, swimming pools and concrete pipes. Creates an impenetrable barrier to water on
foundations, floors, in cellars, lift wells, bridge decks, inspection pits, bund walls, fuel tanks, wet rooms and
sea defences.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free of oil, grease and organic growth such as mosses, lichens, mould and fungi. Treat organic growth (except vegetation and mosses) with Boracol 5Rh or Mould Wash Concentrate).

Loose, flaking or spalled material should be completely removed, the surface cleaned back to a sound line and areas repaired. Mortar joints in poor condition should be raked out and re-pointed with a 3:1 sand : cement mix gauged with ACS SBR Bonding Agent.

Leave repaired areas should be left for 24 hoursbefore application of ACS CWS. All existing plaster, render and paintwork should be completely removed.

Very porous surfaces such as lightweight block (Thermalite) should have an initial coat of render applied before the application of Waterproofing Slurry (do not use waterproof additives). Leave new render coats for 3 days before application of ACS CWS

APPLICATION

Saturate the prepared surface with clean tap water and leave to soak, preferably overnight. The following day, prior to application, re-wet the surface.

Mix 10kg of Waterproofing Slurry with between 2.25 and 2.5lt of clean tap water (5.5-6.25lt of water to 25kg of powder).

Always add the powder to the water, never the other way round and never mix more product than can be used is 30-minutes. Mix continuously with a power mixer or plaster mixer until a cream-like consistency is achieved (the product should not slump or run off of a brush).

Apply an even, thick layer of product with a cement brush or hopper gun (natural broom on floors), ensuring the product fills all small voids and forms a continuous, pin-hole free film across the surface.

Under certain circumstances a second coat may be required. Apply in the same way as the first, before the initial coat hasset (approximately 6-8 hours after application).

In warm conditions, porous substrates or sunny weather, do not allow the product to dry too quickly as this may cause cracking. Keep the surface damp by misting with clean water or draping with damp cloth for 3 to 4 days.

Leave for 10 days before full immersion. Full adhesion and waterproofing will develop after approximately 28 days. The product may be finished with a skim of renovating plaster or 4:1 sand cement render.

LIMITATIONS OF USE

Protect from frost, condensation and rain until the initial cure has been achieved. Bright sunlight and elevated
temperatures will cause rapid drying and cracking, protect from direct sunlight and keep the surface damp with
watermist or wetted sacking. Not suitable for application to substrates in poor condition, cob or surfaces
treated with water repellent impregnating or shutter release agents.

PACK SIZES
