Biological growth on external facades

Organic Growth

The disfiguring of buildings and monuments by biological or organic growths, particularly if recently cleaned, is a concern. Biological growths are one of the main factors involved in the soiling of building facades with the possibility of biological decay of the substrate in the long-term.

Biological growths such as algae, bacteria, fungi, lichens and mosses are common on the exterior of buildings. They will colonise masonry wherever there are suitable conditions of moisture, light, temperature and nutrition.
The selected use and application of surface biocides is an effective way of protecting external facades from biological growth.

Boracol 10RH is a clear solution containing Disodium octaborate tetrahydrate and Benzalkonium chloride and is a HSE approved surface biocide.
